WordPress has had over 65 million downloads since version 3.0 was released, and in this third major iteration we’ve added significant polish around the new user experience, navigation, uploading, and imports. Check out this short video that summarizes the things we think you’ll find are the cat’s pajamas.

How to extend battery life of your iPhone 4S by disabling ‘Setting Time Zone’

It appears that the ‘Setting Time Zone’ function in iOS 5 can lead to excess power drain because the device is repeatedly polling the user’s location in order to set the time zone based on their current location (which is useful when traveling). To disable this functionality, launch the Settings app, navigate to Location Services > System Services and turn off the ‘Setting Time Zone’ option. You should see a purple location services icon in the iPhone’s status bar disappear.

Video & pictures of Nokia Windows Phone leak

Posted in Technology on June 23rd, 2011 by Rahi – Be the first to comment

The first images of what is to be Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 device have leaked to the public. The design is essentially identical to that of the recently announced Nokia N9 (powered by MeeGo), however the images clearly show both the device running Windows Phone 7 and a different LED placement plus camera button on the body that give away it is not simply a fake superimposed image of the N9 running WP7.

Nokia's first windows phone leak

Taking a look at the video (21 minute version here) from provided by Hungarian site technetblog, and you’ll see Nokia CEO Stephen Elop delivering a private and confidential meeting to a group of people eagerly awaiting images of something codenamed “Sea Ray.” Despite Elop’s emphasis on not taking any photos due to the confidentiality, a member of the crowd managed to snap some shots and video of the “Sea Ray” device presentation, which turned out to be of one of Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone devices.

There is not much else known about the device other than it is visually similar to the Nokia N9, which has a 3.9-inch 480×854 AMOLED display, 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 based TI OMAP 3630 processor on the inside. Obviously at the moment the device (if it is the same as the N9 spec wise) fails to meet the WP7 device requirements (wrong screen size, unsupported processor), so it no doubt will have to be tweaked to be WP7-capable.

More on Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 portfolio should be revealed at their Nokia World Conference on October 36-27 in London, where it is believed the company will launch their first WP7 devices.

New 3D without Glasses Technology

Check this one out. If this is not the future then nothing is. Traditional 3D with glasses is based on flickering of both lenses in 3D glasses really fast. Even so fast that you cannot notice it by looking. These guys however have done the magic with your own eyes. If I understood technology right, he fits small electrodes to forehead which makes your eyes close and open based on sent frequency.

Commodore USA releasing updated C64; nostalgia grips millions

Posted in Technology on December 29th, 2010 by Rahi – Be the first to comment

f you’re over 30, you probably remember seeing the Commodore 64. Released in 1982 for $595 ($1,300 adjusted for inflation), it was the best selling computer of all time and dominated the market with 30-40% of the market share. With its whopping 64k of memory and advanced sound and video chips, the machine could be used for both business and pleasure.

Commodore USA, founded in April 2010 by Barry Altman, is trying to recreate the magic by releasing an updated C64 that is “as close to the original in design as humanly possible.” The PC will be powered by an Atom D525 1.80GHz processor, includes two gigabytes of RAM, and has memory card readers and a DVD drive all built into an original form-factor case. The iconic red LED on the Commodore 64 is still there and doubles as the power switch.

According to the site, users will be able to boot directly into a Commodore 64 emulator or can install a standard operating system and use Workbench 5, a custom made C64 operating system.

While the nostalgia factor is high (many people wrote their first BASIC programs on a C64), the question is whether this will be a viable product within the consumer market. Most people who are familiar with the Commodore 64 probably have enough technical abilities to run an emulator on their current machine, and a laptop would be much more portable and easier to use than the C64 clone. On the other hand, if the price is reasonable, there is no reason to believe that it won’t be able to sell a fair number of units to people who remember the system with fond memories.

The machine is not yet available for preorder and no price has been posted.
