Adobe Photoshop CS4 performance issues fix here

Posted in Technology, Tips and tricks on April 28th, 2009 by Rahi – Be the first to comment

So you upgraded or installed spanking new photoshop CS4 and all seems sluggish now? maybe even crashing? We all know that new version should at least work decently on fresh hardware. Main problem lies in new feature which is meant to give a performance boost. Idea is good but to get performance boosts as intended, you need for example FireGL or Quadro based graphics hardware. This of course costs a lot.

Try to disable the OpenGL acceleration.

Toggle “Enable OpenGL Drawing” under Photoshop > Preferences > Performance

Apple OSX disk repair and “illegal name” ?

Posted in Technology, Tips and tricks on April 28th, 2009 by Rahi – 1 Comment

So you might have seen that your disk utility reports ILLEGAL NAME in red and cannot fix it. Usual mac enthusiastic tip is to do reinstall. O behold, here’s how to fix it easily.

1) Boot to single user mode by pressing command+S at reboot until you seen black screen

2) when white cursors block appears after lots of text, type “fsck -f”

Wait until it does repair. DO NOT be alarmed if your computer fans start howling like vacuum cleaner. This could take 10-30mins at older macs.

3) once the white block returns or successful completion announcement comes, press enter (if there is no white cursor block”)

4) type “reboot”
